Specifications

With the new ROLLANT 454/455 range, CLAAS is launching a round baler onto the market that is second to none in terms of its features and which has everything you need to make your day-to-day operations more productive and more effective than ever before.

Test reports

“With the ROLLANT 455 fixed-chamber baler, CLAAS has taken its existing baler range to a new level. The 455 is built specifically with silage-based

operations and contractors in mind”, concluded the test team from agricultural machinery magazine “Profi”.

“The ROLLANT 455 is driven via a 1000-series PTO shaft. This, too, marks a departure from the standard 540 series configuration of the previous ROLLANT machines. The transmission is now secured at 1,700 Nm, up from 1,350 Nm.

The chopping unit is equipped with 25 knives, interchangeable from the cab as two groups of 12 and 13 knives, or as one group of 25. According to CLAAS specifications, this equates to a theoretical chop length of almost 17 cm with 12 or 13 knives, or just over 4 cm with full knife set. Every fifth bale, the blades are automatically cleaned during the binding process. In addition to the standard knives, knives with coated blades are also available for a longer service life. The knives are extended and retracted via a dual-action cylinder. Individual springs on each knife ensure isolated overload protection. In the new ROLLANT, the cutting floor can be hydraulically lowered at the front.” …
